Eerie Stories
Introduction
I do not know about you, but I've heard some eerie stories throughout my career. Periodically, I also learn about ghost stories from my friends or colleagues. A few of those stories have been scarier than the ones written on this blog, “Kids Can See Ghosts, Can You?” One day in October a few years ago, I had two eerie events happen to me: 1) An acquaintance read my palm, and 2) Neighbors shared a ghost story in our own neighborhood. Of course, I did not believe that this person could read palms, but I was up for the challenge. Why did I do that because what she told me blew me away? Keep in mind, both stories occurred long before I had a blog or podcast which is the reason that they remain two of my personal eerie stories.

At a playdate for children and mothers and in the middle of a conversation, the ladies shared that one person there could read palms. I, of course, said no she could not read palms. They all said, “Yes she can!” I said, “No she cannot because no one can read palms.” Now, one would think that I might be optimistic about a palm reader considering the fact that I have met many individuals who can see ghosts right? But no, I was adamant about not believing in palm reading. It's a hand, what could it tell you other than medical ailments? The person who could read palms was sitting close to me and in my stubbornness, held my hand down toward her with my palm up. That was my sarcastic way of saying, show me that you can read my palm. So… she did. I will never forget that moment and have told the story many times since it happened. Here is what she told me based upon the lines in my hand. As you read the results, I want you to compare them to the stories written on this blog about God's angels from children who can see ghosts.

Palm Reading
As the lines on my hand was reviewed, she was quiet for a few minutes which piqued my curiosity. When she started to reveal her findings, she told me that I found the right husband. That was funny to me, and anyone could have told me that but the details of what she stated is what gave me pause. There was no way that she could have known anything about the time when I met my husband - at all. She proceeded to tell me that I was extremely intelligent because I have lived many lives. I was skeptical which meant that I questioned that statement. I thought that we only had one life. She said, "This is the only one that you know of, but you've lived many of them." She proceeded to tell living many lives is the reason that I am intelligent; extremely smart, with "stories to tell and lessons to teach." She also said, there is more education for you in the future (sigh). I already had a doctorate degree and I was unsure of more education. Fast forward to 2022, I know what she meant and she was right - again.

This wonderful person kept looking at my palm as if she was counting. I was thinking, I hope she is not counting babies because I am done with that life!! She said, "No I am counting your angels." This what should remind you of my blog. Many children shared with me information about my own angels, remember?

Of note: As I type, something is happening to my keyboard. I cannot explain it very well via this blog. I will share it on the podcast. Also, the doors keep opening and closing on their own. Weird. I consulted with someone to make sure it was not just me. This person told me a few more things and we are bringing in Bibles to cleanse our location. This happened to me in the past in various locations when I am thinking of what to write for this blog, or putting down notes to remember later on in the evening. What do you think is happening?

She stopped and said, "I can't count them, there are too many (angels)." That statement left me stunned. I inquired about it. She told me that I am heavily guarded and that there were too many angels around me to count them accurately, so she stopped. Others around us were stunned too. The angels were showing themselves to her, and she said that it felt incredible. Mind you, years later I would start writing this blog although numerous Nebulous Children told me that same thing about myself.

Example: This week was a rough one to drive to work. Thursday, I know that I was daydreaming a lot while driving. I was pretty sure that I should have been in an accident, but my steering wheel moved very fast which allowed me to avoid the collision. Please know that I did not move it. That situation is what made me say aloud, "Thank you," wake up, and pay attention to the road. It was also what caused me to remember this story of my palm reading and the numerous angels that I have been told are around me.

After that palm reading, I had to give my associate some credit. Her reading matched another one that I spontaneously had from another woman back in 1998 because I did not believe her either. At that time, I did not have a doctorate degree but she told me that I would get more education, saw boxes which meant I would move, saw water which was located where I was going to move, and she saw three babies. I was accepted to a few schools for my doctorate, but moved to Chicago. Lake Michigan which is gorgeous, is the huge body of water close to where I lives, and I did go on to have 3 children. Wow right?

This person also told me that I was heavily guarded by God's angels. I used this story and others that I heard from Nebulous Children and told my friend how accurate she was with regard to my palm reading. I was still shocked; however, you must give credit where credit is due and I did give it to her. She also proceeded to read someone's palm in front of me and it was the polar opposite of mine. A car accident would happen and she would be hurt but recover just fine, 2 angels guard her, and there was darkness around her because she is remaining upset over something in her past. Then, I asked her who died out of the blue and she confirmed that there was a death. This woman seemed more angry and defensive which is why we both backed-off from her although I could not figure out how I knew there had been a death. Even the person doing the palm reading looked at me but she said, "You have gifts other than intelligence, tap into them."

Nope, I am good. I refused to give into visions. I still deny them, but yesterday I shared with someone that I saw grey or darkness... I'll let you all figure that one out.

The Lake
Halloween night a few years ago in Missouri, a group of parents along with my husband and I took all of our kids trick-or-treating. As we walked past a lake near our homes, there was a conversation about a haunting at that lake. I listened intently and wanted to learn as much as I could about this alleged haunting. Here is the story which I found from 10/30/2014 from "5 On Your Side:" www.ksdk.com/article/life/hauntings-around-st-louis/63-205917740. The part of this story that pertains to the lake is highlight below:
  • All by itself in a leafy neighborhood surrounded by homes in Chesterfield, there stands a tombstone that dates back to 1841. Not far from a cul-de-sac, you'd likely miss the gravesite entirely if you were just driving by. But if you know to look for it, it's plain to see.
  • On some common ground between two lots, up the hill from Green Trails Lake off Ladue Road, you will see the final resting place of Nancy Darby."The Grave of Nancy Darby," the granite memorial reads. "Wife of Hiram Darby and daughter of Philip Morris of Warren County, Kentucky born 26th of June, 1811. Died April, 1841."
  • Those few words are all anyone knows for sure about Nancy Darby. Chesterfield historians guess Nancy Darby was part of a wagon train heading west from Kentucky to somewhere in the old west. Somehow, Nancy Darby, at the young age of 29, passed away in rolling prairie countryside that is present day Chesterfield. Some have guessed Darby died during child birth, her age would be about right. Others wonder if…it was something else. Was it something Darby did? Or a savage act of violence that did Darby in? There's no record either way.
  • There's only a few things we know for sure. Nancy Darby died in 1841 in what later became Chesterfield. Whoever she was with, kept on going—it is presumed.Neighborhoods went up all around west St. Louis County over the years, including several around Green Trails Lake.
  • Developers, however, maintained respect for the final resting place of Nancy Darby. Leaving her singular headstone exactly where it stood in April of 1841, with homes on every side of it.
  • But there is one another thing you should know. Some nights, usually in early fall, a strange mist forms over the Village of Green Trails Lake. Neighbors say it looks too thick to be a fog. It sometimes seems to roll down from the hill to the west.It seems to come from the direction of Nancy Darby's grave.
  • Is Darby's spirit looking for the rest of her wagon train? Is her ghost longing to know why she was left behind?
  • Or… is Nancy Darby coming back?
I never knew this story until my neighbors told me, nor did I pay attention to the lake. I did find the background story of it at the time that I was told about it. That night, the lake was "misty." Maybe that was the reason that they started talking about it; because the mist indicated her presence. Afterwards, I found the location of the tombstone, and I looked for it a few times because you are supposed to be able to see it from the road. Admittedly, I never saw it but it is there according to news reports, and you can see it too if you drive through that part of the neighborhood. Maybe the lake will be "misty" for you as well on Halloween night. We moved away from the area and I did not have the opportunity to see the gravestone...

Nor did I want to see it.

What are your "eerie stories?"
