Child C
Child C's ability to see ghosts and spirits was a huge surprise for me. Educational testing was my only role for this child, and I did not expect a few things that happened while we were testing such as,
  • Lots of giggles before and after giving answers on an intelligence (IQ) test
    • Similar to being tickled
    • That was strange to me
  • Frequent glances out of the window with laughter
    • This made me start thinking of the angel in the tree
  • Long hesitations before providing answers
    • As if there was a need to wait to hear the answers
  • The need to get up quite often, and look at the window
    • Hyper? Inability to sustain attention?
    • Conversations with "something" outside of the window

Of course after awhile, I started to think that Child C could see and talk to ghost and spirits, but I did not ask the question. The first reason is because I was no longer a therapist, but functioning as a School Psychologist. Therefore, understanding the underlying cause for the oddities of this child's behaviors was no longer my concern. The next reason is because behavioral difficulty was not the reason for the educational testing. This child had a Specific Learning Disability (LD), and all behaviors were within expectancy in classes. There was no reason for me to observe anything further; only this child's learning, and learning behaviors.

Child C started to talk to me about the things that were happening during testing. This was a teenager and believe it or not, the conversations were very easy with Child C. Typically, I will ask blunt questions. to teenagers I am not a Psychologist who beats around the bush with regard to asking my questions. I also have an appreciation for my clients answering me directly as well. That was Child C's approach with me and thus, we established a positive rapport along with great boundaries, throughout our time together.

Ironically, Child C was the teenager who shared with me a lot about myself from a spiritual realm, along with my children. Yes, that was a surprise to me especially because I did not ask about my kids. Child C was also very candid about why the observed behaviors were occurring as we tested,
  • I am giggling because a spirit in the room is telling me the answers (to the IQ test)
  • I am watching the angels outside of the window
  • Some are around the children playing on the playground, others are guarding you
  • I stop for a long time in between answers because the angels are encouraging me to respond to you
  • I get out of my chair to watch the angels guard the children

Child C further explained,
  • Walk with me to the windows, you have angels guarding you.
  • See all of them on the ground?
  • Me: No. I cannot see them.
  • Well they can see you. Those angels protect the kids.
  • You have an angel in here behind you. (pointing)
  • You have an angel outside of the door.
  • You have an angel in the tree.
  • You have an angel on the building watching you.
  • You have an angel on the street protecting you.
  • You have a lot of angels surrounding you.

Me: Me? Why do I have so many?
Child C gets quiet and listens (something talking that I cannot hear.
  • Because you asked God to protect you as you work with us, (duh rolls eyes at me).
  • Your son is your angel.
  • Me: What?
  • Your son. He is your angel.
  • Let me see his picture.
  • Me: No.
  • Let me see his picture Dr. Lisa, I want to show you something.

Remember I mentioned how guarded I am about my family with clients? This teen was so demanding, that I showed a picture of my son to this teen, and this teen began to cry. To give you a visual, my son was still a baby. He was sitting on the floor in front of glass windows to two doors.
  • Me: What about this picture makes you cry?
  • Dr. Lisa, your son is surrounded by angels, let me show you. You see these lights?
  • Me: No.
  • Yes you do. Do you see these lights around him?
  • Me: Yes, it's the sun.
  • No it's not, those are his angels. You see, he is heavily guarded as you are too.
  • You have no idea how much of a blessing that baby will be to you.
  • He is your angel; here to protect you, and he will do so many things with his life to help you and others.
  • Dr. Lisa, (she's crying harder), you have no clue how successful this baby will be one day. (covers mouth)
  • You are other children's angel, the ones that come to you like me.
  • We find you.
  • And your son, he is yours.
  • What about my other kids?
  • You are their angel, but they are not yours.
  • Watch the oldest one. That child will help a lot of people.
  • The middle one is creative, very creative.

Keep in mind, we were only testing. No other information was given to Child C about my children. None at all. I put the picture away, thanked her for teaching me more about myself and my family, and we continued testing. I believed Child C to the point of asking if the angel that was telling the answers to the IQ test to "cut it out." I said,

To the Angel (or air): How am I supposed to know what Child C can do academically, if you tell the answers?
  • Me to Child C: Did the angel stop?
  • Child C: Yes, and went back to heaven.
  • Me: REEEAAALLLYYY?
  • Child C: Yup.

Well, who am I to argue that one?

Ironically, when my son was born I guarded him heavily in the hospital. I have no idea why I felt the need to protect him in that manner, but I did. May be in the back of my mind, I remembered this conversation with Child C, I do not know, but I kept my newly born baby boy in my arms. The nurses had to pry him away from me to allow me to rest. That behavior from me did not stop until I took him home. Sometimes, I wonder if something was in the room which caused me some anxiety. Who knows? I did not have any Nebulous Children to ask.

Child C was such an important student within my life. As you continue to read these blogs, Child C will enter the conversations periodically. Please, keep reading!
